The month of December, is my favorite time of the year. Even though in most parts of India it doesn’t actually snow. In my imaginary world, I celebrate Christmas in a snow clad town. These imaginations are triggered by childhood favorite novel Christmas carols.
The ghost of Christmas past, present and future. The young Ebenezer Scrooge. the money he had, yet no love in him. The life he missed. The girl whom he loved yet not married, the employee who was faithful but whom he never paid well, the bitterness he harboured within himself. I can well relate myself now to Mr. Scrooge. There is not much of a difference between me and him. For that matter , between most of us and him.
I wish to change for better like no going back. Be fruitful in Christ and leave no soul untouched whom I meet from now. Live beyond calculations and money. Beyond the rat race.
And this is not possible on own strength, own decisions. But by mediation and prayers. by likening ourselves to Christ.
By living the life to the fullest in the Lord. And no that is not renunciation. That’s the best part of Christianity. God does not demand renunciation, but asking him all we want, and getting our dreams fulfilled.
Let’s aim for the full life Christ has promised us.
” I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly” John 10:10
So there is one a life, and then there is an abundant life.
The life of Ebenezer was not an abundant life. Let’s seek the Lord for this abundant life from this Christmas.
